So the time has come to replace my trusty sony mdr-v600's...they served me well, but 10 years later - the earpads are worn, and although the drivers may be in perfect working condition - I think its about time for an upgrade.

The 2 sets im looking at now are:

1) Grado 325i

2) AKG 702

They're both open air cans, designed for professional use - I'm going to be using these for referencing - as well as for dj'ing.  I just wanted to get an idea of what everyone else is using - I know senn's are popular and am willing to look at them as an option.  400$ is the top end of my budget for a set...

Well you guys know that I've been using the telephone set for the past 10 years or so... but they've finally kick the bucket.  I'm going to get another set... I mean telephone set, but in the meantime I've been digging the WESC series.  Check these out!

and I forgot to mention that you can get them at Dr Disc and one other spot in the Hammer.  There are about 4 different models there to choose from.

Yeah!  I'm buying an pre-made orange pair because I don't want to paint the phone.  I will however fix my black pair.

...good article explaining the differences bw closed and open-air cans...

...looks like as nice as the grados are - I'll be needing a closed set of cans.
